There are many tourist attractions in Bandhavgarh, one of them is Badi Gufa (cave) located in the Tala zone of Bandhavgarh. Badi Gufa is one of the largest caves in the Bandhavgarh National Park area, dating back to the tenth century.
It is an artificial cave, not a natural one created by carvings in hard sandstone. The gates of this cave are kept closed and your guide can open the gate for you. If the gate is open, avoid entering the cave, as, in the past, these caves were inhabited by tigers, sloths, and many horseshoe bats.
It is the largest cave in the area with several separate caves / small meditation rooms inside and wide stone pillars. It was most likely used for meditation by the sages who visited the area. Badi Gufa is strategically located at the base of the fort and is visible from some key areas of the Bandhavgarh Fort.
Bandhavgarh Fort is a remarkable place to visit and to get to know the fascinating history. It is open to tourists during Janmashtami. There are different avatar sculptures of Lord Vishnu carved in stone with a temple of lord Krishna. There are several lakes around the Fort. Tigers are regular visitors to the fort. As you walk through the green vegetation, watch for traces of human settlements scattered throughout the Bandhavgarh Forest, which features artificial caves, sculptures, rock excavations and caves, colossal statues, reservoirs, and temples.
The fort was designed to recreate the medieval city of Shahjahanabad with four enormous wooden gates in all directions, miniature waterfalls with sumptuous carvings, and ornate temples that create an atmosphere of peace and serenity.
Once majestic and proud, it claims to be the keeper of one of the largest and most populous tiger habitats in the world.
Shesh Shaiya is a 65 feet long reclining statue of Lord Vishnu, one of the three Hindu deities of Brahma, Vishnu, and Mahesh or Shiva present in the Tala region of Bandhavgarh. Shesh Shaiya is halfway up the Bandhavgarh hill, amidst dense evergreen trees.
This is a historical statue of the Kalchur period, a unique statue carved from sandstone, on which you can see Lord Vishnu, the king of the seven-headed snakes Sheshnag, and a Shiva linga. It is also the starting point of the Charanganga River, an evergreen perennial that provides water for most of the forest at this height. Charan Ganga is believed to originate at the feet of Lord Vishnu, and therefore the water is considered to be very sacred.
This place is visited by many birds and you can even see the magnificent Malabar Pied Hornbill over there due to the presence of many fruit-bearing trees around. This place is considered to be a sacred shrine and is visited by devotees during Diwali.
Climbers Point is a scenic viewpoint in Bandhavgarh National Park. This is the right place for those who like to enjoy the panoramic view of the hilltop whilst being on an adventure. From Climbers Point, you can see the entire park from a bird’s eye view, as it is located at 13,005 feet above sea level. Going out from this vantage point, you can also observe wildlife and a variety of birds.
Climbers Point is just not a scenic spot for travelers, but a muse for all photography lovers. This place is a must-see while on a vacation in Bandhavgarh.
Charger point is one of the hot spot tourist attractions of Bandhavgarh and is named as Charger Point after a dominant male tiger. Charger Point falls in the Magadhi zone where the stories of Sita and Charger (tigers) sell like hotcakes even after a decade and a half.
Charger Point is named so after the dominant male tiger’s habit of mock charging every jeep and guide. There are also stories circulated that Charger took over the male territory of banka tiger in the Chakradhara region after what is described by the forest guards as the longest nights of tiger growls and fights between Banka and Charger.
